This is a Yoga Narasimha Copper Statue where Lord Narasimha sits on Sheshnag alongside the Garuda and Hanuman statues.  Yoga Narasimha assumes the meditation stance (Yogasana) while wearing a belt (Yogapatta) to support the legs. This form of seat is also known as Utkutika Asana. All Narasimha forms have lion-like features, including a mane on the sides, an open mouth, and visible teeth. The rear arms carry the features of Shankha (conch shell), Chakra (wheel), and Vishnu.

His front arms are in a meditative pose, resting on his knees. The coiled Sheshnag serves as a sacred seat and represents cosmic support. Lord Hanuman and Garuda are seen paying their respects to Lord Narasimha.  This modest but powerful picture promotes devotion and contemplation, capturing the artistic finesse in this representation, combined with the rich symbolism.

The Divine Protector

This intricately crafted copper statue represents a powerful manifestation of Lord Vishnu: Narasimha, the Man-Lion. Narasimha is revered as a fierce protector who embodies courage, righteousness, and the destruction of evil. Possessing the head of a lion and the body of a human, this unique form symbolizes the extraordinary lengths the Divine will go to uphold Dharma (cosmic order). The statue measures 7.5 x 4.5 x 3.0 inches, and makes a beautiful addition to any collection.

The Legend of Narasimha

The story of Narasimha is one of unwavering devotion and divine intervention. Prahlada, a young prince, was a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu, much to the dismay of his demon father, Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu, having obtained a boon that made him virtually invincible – unable to be killed by man or beast, inside or outside, during the day or night, on earth or in the sky – declared himself the supreme being and demanded that everyone worship him. Despite repeated attempts to dissuade Prahlada from his devotion to Vishnu, Hiranyakashipu's efforts were in vain. Enraged, he challenged Prahlada to prove that Vishnu was omnipresent, even in a pillar. When Hiranyakashipu struck the pillar with his mace, Lord Narasimha emerged in a terrifying form. He appeared at twilight (neither day nor night), at the threshold of the palace (neither inside nor outside), and placed Hiranyakashipu on his lap (neither on earth nor in the sky). Thus, Narasimha cleverly circumvented the conditions of the boon and vanquished the demon king, restoring Dharma and protecting his devotee.

Symbolism and Significance

In this striking representation, Narasimha is depicted in a Yogic posture, reflecting both his immense power and his tranquil, meditative nature. He sits majestically upon the coils of Sheshnag, the divine serpent, whose many heads form a protective canopy overhead. Sheshnag is the king of all Nagas (serpents) and serves as a constant reminder of Vishnu's cosmic power and his connection to the waters of creation. Flanking Narasimha are the figures of Garuda, the eagle-faced vahana (mount) of Vishnu, and Hanuman, the devoted monkey god. Garuda symbolizes strength, speed, and unwavering loyalty, while Hanuman embodies selfless service, devotion, and courage. Their presence alongside Narasimha underscores the idea of divine support and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

Craftsmanship and Devotion

This statue is meticulously crafted from copper, a metal known for its conductive properties and spiritual significance. Copper is believed to enhance the flow of positive energy, making this statue a powerful addition to any sacred space. Place this exquisite piece in your home or meditation room to invoke the blessings of Lord Narasimha, and as a constant reminder of the power of devotion, the protection of the divine, and the ultimate victory of good over evil. The statue has been categorized as part of the Small Sized Statues and Copper material collections.
