Because of the presence of a star symbol as the central picture on the lamp, this brass Shodash Upchara lamp is also known as a Nakshatradipa. The oil bowl is missing from these lamps, and the arch has five apertures to accommodate the elongated cotton wicks saturated in oil or ghee. These bulbs are spun clockwise during the second part of the regular sixteen-step Shodash Upchara. The picture of a Prabhavali created by the light with the wick burning behind the back has been popularised since the 16th century Nayaka period.

Illuminate Your Sacred Space with Celestial Radiance

This exquisite brass lamp is more than just a decorative item; it is a vessel for divine light, designed to elevate your spiritual practice and bring an aura of serenity to your home. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, its intricate design evokes the celestial realms and ancient rituals, making it a perfect addition to your altar or puja room. The warm glow emanating from its flame is said to purify the atmosphere, dispel negativity, and invite blessings of prosperity and well-being.

A Beacon of Auspiciousness

The concept of offering light in worship is deeply rooted in Hindu traditions. Lamps, known as "Deepa" or "Diya," symbolize knowledge, dispelling ignorance and ushering in enlightenment. This particular lamp, with its star motif, connects to the celestial bodies that have guided humanity for millennia. In ancient Vedic lore, stars were not merely distant celestial bodies but were seen as the dwelling places of gods and goddesses, and their light was considered a manifestation of divine grace. The star shape itself is a powerful symbol, often associated with divine protection and the aspiration towards higher consciousness.

The Artistry of Shodasha Upachara

The term "Shodasha Upachara" refers to the sixteen essential offerings made during Hindu puja, a comprehensive ritualistic service to a deity. While this lamp doesn't directly encompass all sixteen, its presence signifies the dedication and devotion involved in such sacred rites. It serves as a focal point for the "Jyoti" or "Arati" offering, where the lamp's flame is waved before the deity to show reverence and seek blessings. The shimmering brass further enhances the sacredness of the ritual, its lustrous surface reflecting the divine energy and the devotion of the worshipper. This lamp is crafted to be a beautiful and functional piece, designed to enhance the meditative and prayerful atmosphere of any sacred space. Its enduring brass construction ensures it will be a cherished part of your spiritual journey for years to come.
