The powerful Green Tara is shown in her iconic form in this magnificent gilded copper statue from Nepal. She is sitting majestically on a lotus throne and is decked out like a celestial queen. The soft dhoti, scarf, delicate necklace, earrings, and lovely traditional crown that adorn Green Tara are all accentuated by the glistening gilding of copper.  With two blossoming lotuses in each hand, Green Tara makes the gestures of Vitarka (right) for teaching knowledge and Varada (left) for bestowing boons.

Tara's pitch-black hair frames her face, which is accentuated by her softly expanding eyes, which are artistically refined, filling the composition with her heavenly presence.

The Essence of Compassion

Invite the benevolent presence of Green Tara, the embodiment of active compassion, into your home or sacred space with this meticulously crafted statue. Representing one of the most beloved deities in the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon, this representation of Tara is more than just a decorative object; it's a potent symbol of hope, healing, and swift assistance in times of need. The exquisite detailing captures her gentle serenity and emanates a profound sense of peace, making it a powerful focal point for meditation and contemplation.

The Emerald Radiance of Tara

Green Tara, known as Syama Tara in Sanskrit, is the dynamic, ever-ready emanation of compassion, she symbolizes active compassion and protection. The color green represents her active nature, always ready to leap to the aid of those who call upon her. According to legend, Tara originated from a tear shed by Avalokiteśvara, the bodhisattva of compassion, witnessing the suffering of the world. From this tear sprang a lotus, and from the lotus emerged Tara, vowing to help alleviate suffering and lead beings to enlightenment. The lotus flower she holds is a universal symbol of purity and enlightenment. Emerging from the muddy depths, it blossoms into exquisite beauty, representing the transformation of suffering into wisdom. Her right hand is displayed in the varada mudra – the gesture of giving, compassion, and offering blessings. Together these details remind us of her unending compassion and the swiftness with which she answers prayers.
