A Manifestation of Serenity and Wisdom

This exquisite brass statue captures the serene countenance of Gautama Buddha, the enlightened one, in a pose of profound meditation. Handcrafted in India with meticulous attention to detail, this piece embodies the spiritual essence and artistic heritage of Tibetan Buddhism. The warm luster of the brass is richly adorned with vibrant inlays of turquoise and coral, traditionally associated with healing, protection, and spiritual elevation in Buddhist iconography. The Buddha sits in the lotus posture, the universal symbol of spiritual, mental, and physical grace. His eyes are gently closed, inviting introspection and peace, while his urna, the dot between his eyebrows, signifies spiritual insight. The ushnisha, the cranial protuberance, represents his heightened consciousness and wisdom. His right hand is raised in the Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of fearlessness and protection, assuring devotees of his benevolent presence and offering solace from worldly anxieties. In his left hand, he cradles a small alms bowl, a humble reminder of his renunciation of worldly possessions and his dedication to the path of enlightenment. The robes of the Buddha are intricately decorated with a mosaic of red and turquoise stones, bordered by delicate brass filigree. These colors hold significant meaning; turquoise is often seen as a stone of the heavens, symbolizing wisdom and tranquility, while red coral represents vitality, passion, and life force. Together, they create a visually captivating representation of balance and harmony, reflecting the core tenets of Buddhist philosophy. The craftsmanship reflects the ancient tradition of Indian metalwork, where each piece is imbued with a sense of sacredness and artistic devotion. This statue is not merely an object of art but a focal point for meditation and a tangible connection to the teachings of the Buddha.

Echoes of the Dharma

The path to enlightenment, as walked by Siddhartha Gautama, is a timeless narrative of transformation and spiritual awakening. His journey, from prince to ascetic and finally to the Buddha, the "awakened one," is a cornerstone of Buddhist tradition. This statue serves as a powerful reminder of his teachings on impermanence, suffering, and the cessation of suffering through the Noble Eightfold Path. In Tibetan Buddhism, the Buddha is revered as a guide, a beacon of hope, and the embodiment of compassion and wisdom. The use of brass for this statue is significant. In many cultures, brass is believed to possess purifying qualities and to ward off negative energies. Its enduring nature mirrors the timeless nature of the Dharma itself. The addition of semi-precious stones like turquoise and coral adds another layer of symbolic meaning, often associated with the protection of travellers and the promotion of well-being. These materials, imbued with cultural and spiritual significance, elevate the statue beyond mere decoration, transforming it into a sacred artifact meant to inspire contemplation and spiritual growth. This piece is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Buddha and the rich artistic traditions that have kept his teachings alive for millennia. It is a perfect addition to any meditation space, home altar, or as a thoughtful gift for anyone seeking peace, wisdom, and spiritual connection. Each stroke of the craftsman's tool and each carefully placed stone contributes to the aura of tranquility and profound reverence that emanates from this magnificent depiction of the Awakened One.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
