An Emblem of Radiance and Divine Grace

This exquisite hanging lamp, meticulously handcrafted in India from lustrous brass, is more than just a source of light; it is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and artistic prowess of Indian artisans. The centerpiece of this devotional offering is the majestic peacock, a creature imbued with profound symbolism in Indian mythology and folklore. Revered as the "Vahana" or mount of Lord Kartikeya, the god of war and victory, the peacock embodies beauty, royalty, and auspiciousness. Its iridescent feathers are said to have been shed by the celestial bird Airavata, Lord Indra's elephant, and in some traditions, are associated with the goddess Saraswati, representing knowledge and the arts. The peacock's vibrant plumage is also linked to the concept of "kaama," desire or longing, and its dance is believed to herald the arrival of rain, symbolizing new beginnings and prosperity.

The Dance of Light and Devotion

The graceful form of the peacock, captured in the warm glow of polished brass, is poised above a traditional deepa, a sacred lamp used in Hindu rituals. The intricately detailed feathers of the bird fan out majestically, while its watchful gaze and proud bearing convey a sense of divine presence. This hanging lamp is designed to be suspended, allowing its gentle illumination to cast a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow, transforming any space into an atmosphere of tranquility and spiritual elevation. The multi-tiered base of the lamp is adorned with delicate etchings, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship that defines Indian metalwork. The chain and hook are fashioned from the same high-quality brass, ensuring durability and a cohesive aesthetic that speaks of timeless elegance.

A Legacy of Artisanship

Each lamp is a unique piece, born from the skilled hands of artisans who have inherited generations of expertise. The tradition of brass casting and metalwork in India dates back millennia, with techniques passed down through families, preserving a connection to the past while adapting to contemporary tastes. This lamp is not merely an object of worship; it is a piece of art that brings the spiritual essence of India into your home. Whether used for daily puja rituals, special festivals, or as a decorative accent to enhance the ambiance of your living space, this Mayur Hanging Wick Lamp promises to be a cherished heirloom, radiating beauty and blessings for years to come. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the interconnectedness of nature, spirituality, and art.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
