A Divine Embrace

This captivating brass sculpture depicts a tender moment between Lord Shiva and his son, the beloved Ganesha. Shiva, the destroyer and transformer in the Hindu trinity, is portrayed in a serene seated posture, cradling the infant Ganesha in his lap. The sculpture beautifully captures the paternal affection and divine connection between them. Shiva's four arms symbolize his immense power and multifaceted nature. One hand holds the Trishul, his iconic trident, representing the destruction of ego and ignorance. The opposite hand is seen holding a water pot. His other hand shows blessings.

Ganesha: The Remover of Obstacles

Ganesha, easily recognizable by his elephant head, is the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. He is invoked at the beginning of new ventures and is revered as the remover of obstacles. The story of Ganesha's birth is a fascinating tale. According to one version, Parvati, Shiva's consort, created Ganesha from her own body to guard her privacy. When Shiva returned home and was denied entry by Ganesha, a battle ensued, resulting in Ganesha's beheading. Parvati was heartbroken, and Shiva, realizing his mistake, promised to revive Ganesha. He instructed his followers to bring the head of the first being they encountered facing north. They returned with the head of an elephant, which Shiva then attached to Ganesha's body, bringing him back to life.
