Blessing Ganesha with Kirtimukha Aureole

$707
Includes any tariffs and taxes

The beauty of a sculpture lies in the neatness of its carve and the positive vibes that generate when viewed. This Ganesha sculpture is a perfect fit in this as its dull yet glossy golden color highlighted by the sharp black chisels in amazing patterns is a treat to the eyes. He sits here in lalitasana on a low levelled double lotus pedestal carved in an extremely alluring design; attired graciously in a short designer dhoti that covers the knees and a stole that curls from either side. Right hand is scribbled with the sacred Om symbol and blesses the devotees of fearlessness while the left hand carries his favourite modak; rear hands are equipped with a noose and an axe, carved wondrously.

The luxurious jewels of this deity complement with the long-stylized crown, that hints of a turban from below and takes the style of a temple as you approach the top. The most distinctive phenomenon is the carved Kirtimukha as a broch on the crown as well as on the aureole. Lord Ganesha is revered as the primary deity in the entire Hindu pantheon and his generous and giving nature is favoured by all. Trunk approaching the laddoo, is decorated with a long lotus flower symbolizing purity. Zoom in to have a precise look at the beautifully tattooed flappy ears, deeply curved eyes and the Shaivite tilak that glows on his forehead.

His paunchy belly is surrounded by a snake signifying his patronage and the large multiple layered Kirtimukha aureole formed behind his head is carved as one of a kind. The outer layer is carved like that of flower petals at equal distance and connected by a thin chain of multiple coils, while the inner layers coil in flamboyance at the ends to form elegant floral patterns.

An Aura of Divine Radiance

The sculpture is further enhanced by a magnificent Kirtimukha aureole that encircles Ganesha's head. The Kirtimukha, meaning "Face of Glory," is a mythical, leonine face often depicted as a decorative motif in Hindu art. It is believed to ward off evil spirits and negative energies, acting as a protective guardian. In this piece, the Kirtimukha is intricately rendered, its fierce yet benevolent expression crowning the divine form of Ganesha and adding a layer of sacred power and visual grandeur to the entire sculpture. The radiant fan-like structure behind the Kirtimukha further amplifies its significance, symbolizing the divine light and auspicious aura emanating from Lord Ganesha. This elaborate backdrop elevates the statue from mere decoration to a profound statement of faith and cultural heritage. –––––––––––––––––––

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
