Dancing Ganesha Table Piece

$167
Includes any tariffs and taxes

Ganesha is a beloved Hindu god who is believed to bring good fortune and success in the lives of people. Generally, Ganesha sculptures are shown in standing or sitting posture but the one shown here showcases him as dancing with his left leg on the pedestal and right held high, touching the left one; the tilted posture of his body and head reflects his childish and joyful side. The sculptor has chosen for an antique brass color to outshow his creativity and imaginations while carving the divine himself.

He is adorned in an exquisite ankle length dhoti having perfect creases at the folds and a sleek kamarband that wraps around his waist in an elegant manner; adorned lavishly with enormous precious jewels and a unique crown ornamented on his head, carved exquisitely forming two parallel circular layers at the top. His broadened trunk chiselled in horizontal striations curls towards the left as he tilts his head to right; the cosmic eyes and deeply incised Shaivite tilak on forehead are symbolic of his divinity.

Chaturbhuja dances on a double layered pedestal with the bottom layer designed in floral patterns at corners and the upper one is similar to that of blooming lotus petals. He carries a laddoo in his left anterior hand along with a long snake as a mark of his patronage hung on his hand and right holds the broken tooth symbolizing his dedication for his work; rear hands carry pasa and noose respectively, carved in ultimate realism. Ganesha, being a son of Lord Shiva, is surrounded by snakes on his protruding bely and each of the arms. His sacred vahana, mouse, sits near the Lord’s leg in obeisance to him. If kept as a showpiece on table, it will increase aesthetic as well as spiritual value of the place.

The Divine Dancer's Narrative

Ganesha, the beloved elephant-headed deity, is celebrated across India and beyond for his benevolence and his unique ability to overcome challenges. He is often depicted with a potbelly, symbolizing his contentment and his capacity to absorb all the troubles of the universe, and his elephant head, representing wisdom, intelligence, and strength. In his dancing posture, known as Nataraja Ganesha, he is shown at the height of his ecstatic revelry, a vibrant expression of cosmic energy and the cyclical nature of creation and destruction. This particular depiction captures the dynamic movement and divine delight of the deity, a visual metaphor for the dance of life itself, with its inherent joys and challenges. Lord Ganesha is also known as “Vignha-harta Shri Ganesha” as he removes all the obstacles from the path of prosperity and fortune in the lives of his worshipers. He is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and has a special form. He bears the head of an elephant and the body of a human. Lord Ganesha is the head of all the associates (Gana) of Lord Shiva and for this reason, he is also known by the name “Ganpati”.

He not only is the remover of obstacles but is also the lord of science and art. He is an exquisite dancer and it seems he inherited the dance styles from his glorious parents. His father, Lord Shiv, assumes a special form known as Nataraja and performs the Tandava dance and his mother, Goddess Parvati, is the presiding deity of the graceful Lasya dance. How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
