Auspicious Beginnings

Invite the blessings of Lord Ganesha into your home with this exquisitely crafted brass sculpture. This captivating piece portrays Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of new beginnings, in a unique and delightful form. Seated gracefully on a peacock-shaped boat, he exudes serenity and wisdom. This portrayal deviates from conventional depictions, offering a fresh perspective on the beloved deity. It is meticulously crafted from brass, reflecting the rich artistic heritage of India. Measuring 4.5 x 6.0 x 2.2 inches, this statue is perfect for a personal altar, desk, or any space that calls for a touch of divine grace.

The Tale of Ganesha and his Vahana

Ganesha, easily identifiable by his elephant head, large belly, and often just one tusk, is one of the most widely worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. He is revered as the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. Before any venture is undertaken, he is invoked, his name chanted, to ensure success and ward off any impediments. The most popular portrayal of Lord Ganesha shows him with his Vahana (vehicle), the mouse, but in this piece we see Lord Ganesha in a boat in the shape of a peacock, and the rat (mouse) is included as well. The rat, Mushika, is Ganesha's primary Vahana, the vehicle upon which he travels through the cosmos. Symbolically, the rat represents the ability to gnaw through any obstacle, and Ganesha, as the master of intellect, guides this energy, allowing it to overcome any challenge. The rat also represents the ability of wisdom to see through the darkness and confusion of the unknown. The presence of a peacock is more unusual. Peacocks are considered sacred in Hinduism, often associated with beauty, royalty, and immortality. The peacock is the mount of Lord Kartikeya, Ganesha's brother, but it has also been related to Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity. The combination of Ganesha on a peacock boat, along with his rat vahana, brings together the attributes of wisdom, prosperity, beauty, and the ability to overcome any obstacle on the path to success.

Craftsmanship and Care

This small-sized statue is carefully made to bring out a pleasing aesthetic and make an auspicious addition to any space. To maintain the luster of this brass sculpture, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Over time, brass may develop a natural patina, adding to its vintage charm. If desired, a brass cleaner can be used to restore its original shine.
