The Embodiment of Compassion

Within the rich tapestry of Buddhist deities, Tara shines as a beacon of compassion, a gentle yet powerful force of enlightened action. Often referred to as the "Mother of Liberation," she embodies the feminine aspect of wisdom and is revered for her swiftness in answering the prayers of those in need. As a bodhisattva, she has vowed to postpone her own enlightenment until all beings are free from suffering. This exquisite sculpture captures the essence of her benevolent spirit, inviting a sense of peace and protection into any space.

A Glimpse into Iconography

The deity sits gracefully atop an ornately detailed pedestal, symbolizing her elevated spiritual status and the stability she offers to her devotees. Her posture exudes both serenity and readiness, a testament to her commitment to immediate aid. One hand is extended in the gesture of varada mudra, signifying generosity and the granting of boons. In her other hand, she holds a sprig, a symbol that varies slightly across traditions, but often representing healing, protection, or simply the natural world from which she draws her power. The intricate details and silver finish of the brass sculpture lend an air of timeless elegance, making it a striking focal point for any altar, meditation room, or living space. The adornments of turquoise and red stones beautifully complement the silver hue of the brass.

The Story of Tara

Numerous tales swirl around the origins of Tara, each highlighting her unwavering dedication to alleviating suffering. One popular narrative tells of a princess who, witnessing the immense suffering of beings, resolved to attain enlightenment not only for herself but for all. Unlike other bodhisattvas who chose the path of masculinity, she vowed to remain a woman in all her future incarnations, demonstrating that enlightenment is accessible to all regardless of gender. From her tears sprung a lotus, from which Tara was born, ready to aid and protect all beings. This inspiring story underscores the power of compassion and the boundless potential within each of us to make a positive difference in the world. Displaying this figure serves as a constant reminder of the potential for compassion within oneself.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
