Possessing this ornate sculpture from the Exotic India collection is equivalent to having the entire heavens upon a small stand in your house. Navgrah (Sanskrit for 'nine celestial bodies') is the collection of deities in Whom are manifested the divinity contained within each celestial body of the solar system. Soorya, Chandra, Mangal, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, and Ketu are arranged delicately on an elaborate, common base, each facing the direction ordained to them by the essence of the universe.

Bronze has been the preferred metal of sculpturors since time immemorial. Even though sculptures of brass are more abundant due to the commercial availability of the alloy - especially across the Exotic India website - it is bronze that has a more artistic, elite whiff to it. The members of the Chola dynasty constituted the key patron group of bronze sculpture, who demanded great skill in this art form, funded innovative methods that have gone down in history, and caused the golden age of bronze casting to flourish in the subcontinent.

Embrace Cosmic Harmony: The Navagraha Ensemble

Invoking divine blessings and cosmic balance is an age-old aspiration, and at the heart of this pursuit lies the veneration of the Navagraha, the nine celestial bodies that influence our lives. This exquisite bronze ensemble, meticulously crafted in the traditional Swamimalai style, brings the powerful presence of these nine deities into your sacred space. Each figure is sculpted with profound detail, embodying the unique iconography and spiritual significance of its respective planetary deity. The central figures are depicted with serene expressions and appropriate divine attributes, while the surrounding deities are arranged in a manner that reflects their celestial order and influence. This arrangement is not merely aesthetic but carries deep astrological and ritualistic meaning, ensuring that the energies of the Navagraha are channeled effectively. ––––––––––

A Legacy of Craftsmanship and Devotion

The art of bronze casting in Swamimalai, Tamil Nadu, is a centuries-old tradition passed down through generations of master artisans. These craftspeople imbue each creation with not just skill, but also with spiritual devotion. The Navagraha ensemble is a testament to this heritage, showcasing the finest bronze work that is both durable and aesthetically captivating. The rich patina and the subtle play of light on the metal enhance the divine aura of the figures, making them perfect for rituals, worship, or as a focal point for meditation. The tradition of worshipping the Navagraha stems from ancient Vedic astrology, where each planet is considered a powerful force that shapes destiny. By venerating them collectively, one seeks to mitigate negative influences and enhance positive ones, fostering harmony and prosperity. ––––––––––

A Gateway to Auspiciousness

This Navagraha set is more than just a collection of statues; it is a conduit to auspiciousness. In Hindu mythology, the Navagraha are often depicted as attendants to Surya, the Sun God, and are believed to hold sway over human affairs. Each deity – Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Node of the Moon), and Ketu (South Node of the Moon) – has distinct characteristics and impacts. For instance, Shani, the planet of karma and justice, is often depicted with a stern but fair countenance, reminding devotees of the consequences of their actions. Conversely, Brihaspati (Guru), the planet of wisdom and knowledge, radiates an aura of benevolence and guidance. The precise orientation of each deity within this ensemble is crucial, designed to resonate with their directional energies, further amplifying their auspicious influence. Placing this Navagraha set in your home or temple is a powerful statement of your commitment to cosmic alignment and a sincere invocation for peace, health, and overall well-being. Its presence serves as a constant reminder of the celestial dance and its profound impact on our terrestrial existence.
