Ganesha: Remover of Obstacles

Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is one of the most beloved and widely worshipped gods in the Hindu pantheon. Known as the remover of obstacles (Vighnaharta), the god of beginnings, and the patron of arts and sciences, Ganesha is invoked at the start of any important endeavor. He typically holds a sweet delicacy (modak) in one hand, symbolizing the rewards of spiritual practice. His mount is the humble mouse (Mushika), representing humility and the ability to overcome obstacles, no matter how small.
