A Beacon of Fearlessness and Protection

This exquisite brass statue embodies the serenity and compassion of the Buddha, specifically in the Abhaya Mudra, a gesture of fearlessness and reassurance. The warm, radiant glow of the brass is a testament to its quality, while the intricate inlay work adds a vibrant layer of spiritual significance. Each detail, from the gentle curve of the lips to the serene expression in the closed eyes, invites a sense of peace and contemplation. The Buddha sits in a meditative posture, symbolizing his enlightened state and his detachment from worldly distractions. The robe, adorned with a mosaic of deep blue stones, interspersed with vibrant red and turquoise accents, hints at the richness of spiritual insight and the preciousness of the Dharma. ––––––––––

The Abhaya Mudra: A Divine Gesture

The Abhaya Mudra, depicted by the raised right hand with the palm facing outwards, is a powerful symbol in Buddhist iconography. It signifies protection, dispelling fear and anxiety, and offering blessings. Legend has it that the Buddha adopted this gesture when he encountered an angry elephant, calming it with his presence and demonstrating his power over fear and aggression. It is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, one can find inner strength and tranquility. This gesture is believed to offer a shield against negative energies and to foster courage in the hearts of devotees. In Tibet, where this style of statue finds its home, the Buddha is revered not only as a spiritual teacher but as a protector and guide on the path to enlightenment. The vibrant inlay work on the robe can be seen as representing the myriad facets of Buddhist teachings, each gem a precious teaching or quality to be cultivated. ––––––––––

Craftsmanship and Spiritual Resonance

Crafted from high-quality brass, this statue is designed to be a lasting piece of spiritual art. The meticulous inlay of stones, likely lapis lazuli for the blue, with accents of coral and turquoise, adds a tactile and visual dimension that draws the viewer in. These stones themselves hold cultural and spiritual significance across various traditions, often associated with protection, wisdom, and healing. The smooth finish of the brass and the precise rendering of the Buddha's form speak to the skill of the artisans. This piece serves as more than just a decorative item; it is a focal point for meditation, a reminder of the Buddha's teachings, and a conduit for invoking his blessings. Its presence can transform any space into a sanctuary of peace and mindfulness, echoing the profound wisdom and boundless compassion that the Buddha represents.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
