The Embodiment of Compassion

This exquisite sculpture embodies the serene and powerful presence of a beloved figure in Tibetan Buddhism. She is known for her swift compassion and unwavering dedication to alleviating suffering. Her graceful posture, gentle expression, and intricate adornments all speak to her divine nature and her commitment to guiding sentient beings towards enlightenment. The delicate curves and smooth finish of the brass create a sense of tranquility and grace. The artist's skill is evident in the meticulous detailing, from the intricate patterns on her robes to the delicate features of her face. This sculpture is a testament to the rich artistic traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and a potent reminder of the path to compassion and wisdom.

The Story of Tara

Tara, meaning "star" in Sanskrit, holds a prominent position in Tibetan Buddhism. She is revered as the "Mother of Liberation," a bodhisattva embodying compassion and wisdom who is said to be born from a tear of Avalokiteśvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. Legend says that she vowed to be reborn as a woman in each lifetime to help others achieve enlightenment. There are many forms of Tara, each representing different aspects of her enlightened qualities. The form depicted in this sculpture is the most celebrated and revered; she is often visualized as being seated in the *vajrasana* posture, with one leg extended slightly, ready to spring into action to help those in need. The hand gesture on her raised arm is a mudra, a symbolic hand gesture that conveys the blessing of refuge. In her other hand, she holds the stem of a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening. Each aspect of her imagery is steeped in meaning, reflecting her commitment to overcoming obstacles and leading others to liberation.

A Symbol of Hope and Healing

This handcrafted sculpture is more than just a beautiful object; it is a symbol of hope, healing, and the boundless potential for compassion within us all. It serves as a reminder to cultivate kindness, to act with wisdom, and to embrace the path of enlightenment. Whether displayed in a home, meditation space, or office, this sculpture serves as a powerful focal point, inspiring contemplation and fostering a sense of peace and well-being. It is a meaningful gift for anyone seeking to deepen their spiritual practice, connect with the teachings of Buddhism, or simply cultivate a more compassionate and mindful life.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
