The Embodiment of Compassion

The figure before you represents a beloved deity within Tibetan Buddhism, revered for her swift compassion and unwavering commitment to liberating all beings from suffering. This is Tara, the "Star," a bodhisattva whose name evokes both hope and active assistance. Her presence brings peace, courage, and the promise of protection in times of need. Considered the "Mother of all Buddhas," Tara is not merely a goddess, but an embodiment of enlightened activity. She is the manifestation of the wisdom and compassion of all Buddhas, condensed into a single, dynamic form. She represents the feminine aspect of enlightenment, intuitive wisdom, and the unwavering drive to alleviate suffering. Her popularity transcends cultural boundaries, as individuals across the globe seek her blessings and guidance.

A Vision of Grace and Power

This exquisite piece captures Tara in her characteristic seated posture, the *lalitasana*, also known as the "royal ease" pose. One leg is gently pendant, suggesting her readiness to spring into action to help those who call upon her. Her right hand is extended in the *varada mudra*, the gesture of giving, bestowing blessings and granting wishes. In her left hand, she delicately holds the stem of a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and enlightenment. Her serene face radiates wisdom and compassion. Adorned with intricate jewelry and a crown, each detail is carefully rendered, reflecting her divine status. The lotus blooms that grace her shoulders further emphasize her connection to purity and spiritual awakening. The overall effect is one of profound beauty and powerful grace.

Crafted with Devotion

This captivating sculpture is expertly crafted from brass, lending it a substantial feel and visual warmth. The silver hue adds an element of purity and reflects light beautifully, enhancing the overall presence of the piece. The careful detailing, from the folds of her robes to the intricate ornamentation of her crown, speaks to the skill and devotion of the artisan who created it. This is more than just a statue; it is a tangible representation of faith, compassion, and the boundless potential for enlightenment within each of us. Place her in your home or meditation space as a reminder of the power of compassion and the possibility of liberation.

The Legend of Tara's Origin

Legend tells of Tara's origin in a distant aeon, where she was a princess named Yeshe Dawa, or "Wisdom Moon." Inspired by the Buddha's teachings, she vowed to attain enlightenment in female form, dedicating herself to freeing beings from suffering. She resisted pressure to reincarnate as a male, proclaiming that there was no basis in ultimate reality to distinguish male from female. Through her unwavering dedication and profound wisdom, she achieved Buddhahood, vowing to always return in female form to aid all beings. Her story stands as an inspiration to those seeking enlightenment, demonstrating that the path is open to all, regardless of gender or circumstance.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
