Traditional Nagada Drum Featuring Goddess Chhinnamasta Artwork

$598
Includes any tariffs and taxes

The nagada is a traditional Indian percussion instrument. It bears striking similarities with percussion instruments used in West Asia and has been the staple of Hindu festival music, mostly in South India. The nagada that you see on this page is of a substantial size. It is made of wood and comes with two wooden sticks. The surface of the nagada has been turned into a canvas. The iconography of the Chhinnamasta is clearly discernible. The midnight-complexioned four-armed Mahavidya with Her own head in one of Her hands. An ashen feminine corpse beneath Her feet. Fair handmaidens on either side of Her, as naked and as indubitably beautiful as She is.

Sacred chants in a complex, ancient script are written in black and red ink across the Chhinnamasta canvas. Down the hemispherical body of the nagada is a twine-like network made of wood itself. Within each pocket of this network is a minimalistic flower motif in a golden yellow hue.
