Embodiment of Divine Protection

This exquisite bronze statue depicts Lord Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Lord Vishnu, in his tranquil Yoga Narasimha form. Seated in a meditative posture atop an ornate pedestal, this deity embodies a unique synthesis of ferocity and peace. The divine being is adorned with a magnificent multi-headed serpent hood, its scales intricately detailed, fanning out like a protective canopy. A Legend of Fierce Grace

The story of Narasimha is one of the most dramatic and beloved narratives in Hindu mythology. It recounts how Lord Vishnu assumed this terrifying yet benevolent form to protect his devotee Prahlada from his demon king father, Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu, granted a boon that rendered him nearly invincible, had become arrogant and demanded that everyone worship him instead of the gods. Prahlada, a steadfast devotee of Vishnu, refused. Enraged, Hiranyakashipu tried to kill Prahlada in various ways, but Vishnu's divine intervention always saved his child devotee. Finally, Hiranyakashipu challenged Vishnu, questioning his presence everywhere. Vishnu then emerged from a pillar, in the form of Narasimha, and with his lion-like claws, dismembered the demon king on the threshold of his palace, neither inside nor outside, neither during day nor night, thus fulfilling the conditions of his boon and establishing that no one is above divine law.
