The cotton that is woven in Pochampalli, a small hamlet in Andhra Pradesh, is basically what is known as mercerized cotton that is a mixture of cotton and silk. This gives a silky and glossy texture to the fabric, while making it as light as silk. This mercerized cotton sari, is woven in single ikat, where only the weft threads are dyed in different colors, while the warp threads are dyed in a single color. The main body of the sari is in ochre brown color with green and maroon hexagonal pattern woven on the entire sari. The choice of green and maroon threads contrasts the body color perfectly. The border is in plain red color.
The Pallav is quite small and set on a red background, with very small hexagonal patterns, woven in white threads. The small and near pattern gives a certain beauty to the sari. The lightness and the silky texture of the sari make it a comfortable wear in the summers.
