South cotton saris are exquisitely woven with rich borders and pallavs. They make an excellent evening and formal wear. Their crisp cotton texture gives a certain kind of elegance to the wearer making her stand out in the crowd. The crisp texture also gives a bouncy look to the sari and its wearer. These are counterparts of the Canjeevarams woven in cotton.

This south cotton sari is entirely inspired by the canjeevaram weaving traditions. The body of the sari is in off-white color with large grids in maroon color. Inside the grids are a series of peacocks and circular patterns, woven alternatively. The peacocks of the southern weaving traditions have a similar appearance as on this sari, with very bushy tails. Symbolically they form an important iconographical representation because peacocks the vehicle of the powerful god Subhramanyashwara who is ardently worshipped in Tamil Nadu.

The border is woven on both sides and is very broad with a series of white circles. There are also temple border motifs on the top of the border. The pallav is plain and simple with white vertical lines on a contrasting maroon background.
