This Bengal cotton sari comes in a ochre yellow color with a plain body and small black floral butis. The border of the sari is woven on both sides. It is broad with floral and creeper patterns enclosed within an Orissan border that consists of a series of round and cross motifs.
The pallav is elaborate and is woven in black threads. There are ornately crafted arches and pillars like the temple traditions of the country, which are filled with floral and creeper patterns. These motifs have inspired many a textile traditions of India. Ancient weaving activity was undertaken with the patronage of the temple, and hence many such architectural motifs and patterns have found their way to the textiles.
