This Venkatagiri sari follows the traditions of the Venkatagiri weaving to the hilt. The body of the sari is woven in small self-checks of light pink threads that contrast the magenta pink of the rest of the body. Apart from the Zari border these small checks add to the beauty of the sari. The Pallav of these saris is usually plain, here with brown and zari threads woven in vertical columns.
The border of the sari is woven in zari threads on a contrasting dark maroon background, with a beautiful 'peacock' motif. The peacock motif is a favorite with the Venkatagiri saris and probably represents the vehicle of the god 'Subramanyam' who finds a lot of devotees in the Southern part of India. The tail of the peacock is quite bushy and is woven in a similar fashion in many of the Southern weaving traditions.
These saris are an asset to any wardrobe and can be worn on any formal and informal gatherings.
