Few fabrics have the inherent allure of raw silk, called kosa in the vernacular where it comes from. It is woven in abundance in the mid-eastern plains of Bihar and Jharkhand, a region known for its raw and finished silks. This pineapple creme saree, of a yellow so pale yet so rich in its gold-like resplendence, has been handpicked from the looms of the region. The solid-coloured field in itself makes a statement, one of youth and ardour, which makes it an unusual yet apt pick for the Indian bridal trousseau.

The tone becomes richer towards the endpiece of this saree. The glimmer of the raw silk gives way to the layered weaves that make up the stripes all the way to the outer edge of the fabric. Dense, an almost dull black and red alternate along the endpiece, beginning midway through. While kosa silk may be coarser to the touch than other traditional silk sarees, the drape is body-hugging and could be very seductive once you get used to motioning in it.
