For Akademi, National Exhibition of Art is not only an annual event but an occasion to be celebrated. Though one may say that it is a repeated activity, the features and ideas behind it remain the same every year, yet everybody knows that nothing repeats. This event, for many, is a major platform: a national platform on which they can decide upon the direction in which they have to go. A medley of colours, a bouquet of styles, a range of subjects and an array of individual stamps in works of art make this event very attractive. It is true that in the last two decades the art scene of India had undergone tremendous changes and the job of promoting art has now been taken up by many agencies under the private and the government aegis. Nevertheless, the significance of the National Exhibition of Art is certainly not on the wane because of its wide spectrum, an array of range and a panoramic vision.
