In a long journey, we normally cross a number of milestones though we do not give much attention to most of them. But certain milestones have great significance, as they sometimes become major turning points in the journey. Even after years memories of them will give impetus to one's forward journey. This National Exhibition of Lalit Kala Akademi is a special one, not simply because this is the 50 one after its inception, but due to the kind of works, it brings to the viewers and the message it gives. I believe this National Exhibition will be considered as a major turning point in the art scene of the country. What I could see in the works selected by the Jury for this Exhibition is their idea to present a coherent viewing experience that conveys the idiomatic visual language of the contemporary times, Freshness and vitality are the major elements that we can definitely feel while we are witnessing these works. In the present scenario of world art, these works assure their relevance for the sheer novelty they exude.
