Foreword

Throughout the ages various cultures have recognized the importance of breath awareness and the use of breathing techniques and movement to improve the health of body mind and spirit. This is being proven in many cases today. Breath awareness is used in many disciplines to still the mind induce inner awareness and bring about a meditative state. Thus these practices can being about balance and harmony between body mind and spirit.

The exercises in this book are drawn from some of those I have practiced during the last 35 years. Some are from the Chinese Anceint Arts said to date back about 4000 years which were recorded in the famous Yellow Empero’s compendium. The basic Pranayama practices are derived from the Yoga texts which date from around 1000-500 B.C.E. I trust that you will enjoy practicing them.

Kailash Raj’s art, as always, is marvelous. We are so grateful to you for allowing your team to do these special canvases for us. Rarely do we see this caliber of art in modern times. Kailash Ji has taken the Swaminaryan monks’ suggestions to heart and executed each one with accuracy and a spiritual touch.
