Foreword I am very happy to introduce and recommend the book entitled "Clinical Application of Panchakarma in Acne Vulgaris" to you. Panchakarma the fastest growing specialty of Ayurveda globally is gaining recognition. The detoxification of body through various routes by specially designed procedures helps body to maintain normally. As a result the body rejuvenates rapidly and the desired pharmacokinetics and therapeutic efforts of medicines can be attained thereafter following these procedures. In the given book the author has dully highlighted not only the theoretical but practical aspects of Panchakarma procedures. This book shall certainly become an eye opener for the graduates, rising research scholar and practitioners in Ayurveda Fraternity. Preface Ayurveda is a Science of Life rather than science of diseases. Traditional Ayurveda is ramified in 8 Angas, called as Ashtanga Ayurveda. Ashtanga Ayurveda deals with maintaining the health and wellness through different Shamana and Shodhana Chikitsa. Shodhana Chikitsa is of 5 forms, called as Panchakarma (Detoxification Therapy) viz. Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktamokshna. These all five procedures are used for detoxification of Sharira (Body) at organ level as well as at cellular level. This book deals with the role of Panchakarma in Acne Vulgaris with its physiological action and extensive usage in treatment of relevant diseases. Face is the index of mind and mirror of the body, considered as atop upanaga by Ayurveda. Beauty is the matter of joy forever for all human beings. Any abnormality regarding the complexion and structure of the skin of face causes much mode mental trauma to the individual specially youngsters. Though it is the physical deformity of face, it has huge impact on psychological level which cascades stress, depression and social isolation. Panchakarma has its potential to cure the underlying pathology of Acne Vulgaris at cellular level.
