the first glance, many of our ancient texts appear to Abe be imaginative and unreasonable in more ways than one. But that is unthinkable on the part of our elite ancestors who valued Truth more than anything else, who always based everything on science and intellect alone; as is clear from the following verse from the Bhagavata Purana (Skandh 10, Chapter 77) -
एवं वदन्ति राजर्षे ऋषयः केचनान्विताः ।
यत्स्ववाचो विरुध्येत नूनं ते न स्मरन्त्युत।।
"The wise say that anything (talk, book, principle, event) that does not match the principles of logic should definitely be discarded (as untrue)."
The conjuring of 'magic' or even its very existence finds no support from any of our scriptures. Only those who have an under-developed logic tend to believe in the concept of magic, as they cannot fathom the actual science or series of events leading to the apparently impossible deeds in front of their eyes. And it is to take advantage of this lack of logical intellect, and to fool the common men further, that the ill-intentioned intellectuals further drag them down into the quagmire called 'magic.
Contrary to it, those who walk in the footsteps of Yogeshvar Shri Krishna, consider the very concept of 'magic' as false, because they know that the scientific principles that form the basis of this Creation, cannot be flouted even by the Creator Himself. Therefore, all stories and events that disprove the principles of Science, have no basis in reality. Since we also know that Truth was paramount for our ancestors, that telling a lie was considered to be the biggest sin by them, we must approach their writings from another perspective one that can make logical sense. Only in this manner can we ever understand our real history.
Our ancient texts are full of historical accounts that are a treasure trove of knowledge but only when approached with a scientific perspective; the reason being that these scriptures often assume a symbolic tone, which is only indicative of a highly developed style of writing.
While reading our Pauranic/Vedic texts, we must keep in mind that the civilization of our ancestors had at its center, such a developed form of Science, that it is yet to be achieved by modern humans. It is but natural that this knowledge was an integral part of everything they did. The sages that we often assume to be old ascetics withdrawn into a solitary existence of spiritual austerities in the forests, were instead highly accomplished scientists and researchers, who led various elite universities scattered across the country in serene countryside settings.
