His published works include Buddhism and the Mythology of Evil, Buddha Marx and God. A His-tory of Religion East and West and The Buddha.
In the present form this Dictionary of Buddhism is the result of discussion with Dr.. Rita Gupta of Northeastern Hills University, who suggested that its publication in India would provide a convenient manual for students of Buddhism. These could be either, students following university courses in Philosophy and Religion, or the potentially larger number of those among whom today a serious interest in Buddhism has been engendered and who wish to make a personal study of this important aspect of India's history and culture and intellectual life.
The present work is limited to the author's area of competence, that is to the Buddhism of India and South-East Asia. Brief references are made to some developments of Indian Buddhism in China, Japan and Tibet, but for any further study of these aspects of the subject the reader will need to consult more specialised work.
