The Science concerned with treatment of ailments arising out of the impacts on nerve (life) centres is called Thanuology (Varmam). Thanuology deals with not only the human physique but also life.

According to our ancient saints, the human physique is a net work of 72,000 nerves. This has been accepted by the modern medical world.

Each nerve has a specific function. If any of the nerves is interferred by any sort of impact, cut or removal, its function is not only impaired, but its connected functions are by and large affected to the extent of its importance to the physique.
