Book Description
Preface

In an age marked by rapid technological change, shifting cultural paradigms, and growing social complexities, the need for disruptive thinking has never been more urgent. This book, Disruptive Thinking in Society and Education, emerges from recognition that the traditional frameworks through which we understand social structures and educational practices are no longer sufficient to address the challenges of our times. Rather than incremental reforms or superficial innovations, what is required is a radical rethinking disruption of the ways we perceive, interact with and design the systems that shape-human life. The term disruptive thinking is often associated with innovation in business and technology. However, its relevance extends far beyond the corporate world. In both society and education, disruption entails questioning long-held assumptions, exposing entrenched inequalities and envisioning transformative possibilities. This volume seeks to explore these disruptions not as threats to order but as opportunities for growth, liberation, and re-imagination. The chapters in this book draw upon interdisciplinary insights from sociology, philosophy, critical pedagogy, cultural studies, and futures thinking. Contributors have examined how disruptive thinking can challenge dominant ideologies, dismantle systemic barriers and reframe the purpose and practice of education in a pluralistic and interconnected world. From interrogating colonial legacies in curriculum to advocating for digital democratization, from rethinking citizenship to exploring inclusive pedagogies, each essay is an invitation to think differently and act courageously. This work is intended for educators, students, scholars, policymakers, and all those who are committed to social justice, critical inquiry, and the transformative power of ideas. It is not a manual of solutions, but a provocation to rethink what we take for granted and to embrace the discomfort that comes with true intellectual and moral engagement. I express my deepest gratitude to the contributors whose vision and scholarship have enriched these pages, and to the readers who will carry these conversations forward into classrooms, communities, and corridors of policy. May this book inspire critical reflection, courageous dialogue and bold actions that can reshape both education and society for the better.
