It is a universal belief that God manifests in millions of forms in time-space reality. It is a truism that the manifested forms of God are ever on the flux given the time-space differentials. The Indian Saints and Scholars (Kapila, Narada, Kabir, Nanak, Tulsidas); the Sufi Saints and thinkers (Rumi, Omar Khayyam and Bulleh Shah), and also the Puranas of Hindu Sanatan Dharma have created a plethora of literature on God with form and without form. The path of devotion to God-the Ultimate Reality has been prescribed by all the religions in the world, although with certain variations in their approaches. Further, the Hindu concepts of Yoga, Sankhya, Vedanta and Gita have been prescribed for the spiritual neophytes and common man alike.
It goes to the credit of Shri A.R. Nanda that he has been able to bring to fore characteristics and finer nuances of so many concepts in this book. He has also gone a step ahead to explain what Sai Consciousness means. Shri Shirdi Sai fundamentally lived a life based on the highest principles of the Saints and followed the spiritual/ethical path laid down in Gita. Sai Consciousness doesn't mean a piece of literature to be read and appreciated at an intellectual level; it has to be experienced. During the period of his human embodiment Shri Sai gave numerous experiences not only to His devotees but also to whosoever came in contact with Him. He was a Sadguru (Perfect Master) with the capability of penetrating and permeating to the subtle minds of people and influencing their minds with ethical concerns. He was more pronounced on the ethical precepts.
Like a beautiful piece of cloth, this book interweaves various threads of spiritual concepts. It entwines devotee, Master and God. The book consists of 17 chapters divided into 2 parts. The first part basically deals with Bhakti or Devotion as a sine qua non to experience God. It deals with the different types of Bhakti Yoga enunciated by Rishi Kapila, the propounder of Sankhya Bhakti Yoga; Devarishi Narada, the propounder of Bhakti Darshan; Shri Patanjali, the propunder of Yoga Sutras, Shri Tulsidas, the writer of Shri Ram Charita Manas; Sant Kabir, the devotional mystic; and Guru Nanak. The book also deals with the devotional mysticism of Islam and Sufism.
