Following the recent controversy over the process of conversions by Christian missionaries and the call of Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, for a mature and informed national debate on the same, Pragna Bharati, Andhra Pradesh, conducted a public discussion on "The Ethics of Religious Conversions" on February 9th, 1999 at the. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Hyderabad.

The distinguished speakers included eminent Indologist and Vedacharya, Dr. David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri), who is also the Director of the American Institute of Vedic Studies at Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA and His Grace Samineni Arulappa, Archbishop of Hyderabad.

Sri T.H. Chowdary, Information Technology Advisor to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman of Pragna Bharati, Andhra Pradesh, presided over the meeting.
