Bright sunlight falling on the bricks of an old house soon to be demolished, fishermen getting ready for a catch, the oldest cafe standing still. Time moves on. Beautifully cracked floor tiles, a herd of cows ambling along for a morning walk. multi-coloured walls with a collage of faded hand-bills, clothes in all shapes and designs hanging on the blue walls... such visuals demand attention. They make me restless. I paint... only then does the uneasiness settle down.
In this book, I shall talk about my journey so far, the techniques and the thoughts behind the painting process on which I have pondered for a long time. It will be a sharing of my thoughts through words and colours.
This can be called a sequel to my first book 'Watercolour'. There has been a gap of fifteen years. Over these years I have experienced a gradual change in the thought process behind my painting. When I say process, it is both the process of making a single painting, as well as the process of development as an artist.
As you progress in time i.e. grow older, the painting style starts showing a change in the technique, composition, and many other aspects which are fundamentally your thoughts, ideas, and aesthetic priorities.
I also wish to discuss the many conflicts and confusions that keep arising while painting. Some have been resolved, some not yet.
In some chapters we shall discuss the 'theory' about composition, colour, etc., which is a general theory and not something mandatory. It is just the result of learning from other people, books, and of course my experiences.
It is more of a personal sharing. I hope you can relate to it and that it connects with you!
