India got a new President in Droupadi Murmu, the first from a tribal commu-- nity and only the second woman to occupy the highest constitutional office. This was the BJP's way of political-signalling to India's tribal communities that it counts them as integral to any nation building project. The choice of Jagdeep Dhankar as Vice President was the party's outreach to the farmers, who were agitating for the repeal of the controversial farm laws.
