Book Description
About the Book
"Surely, he was the greatest man who ever lived. He never drew a breath for himself. Above all, he never claimed any greatness for himself. He said "Buddha is not a man, but a state. I have found the door of it. Enter, all of you" Swami Vivekanand on Buddha.

"A yogi of highest spiritual level in direct communication with Truth who had for the time being consecrated his whole life to the moral and spiritual uplift of his nation and humanity" Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Swami Vivekananda.

This book presents a bird's-eye-view of the life and mission of these two great spiritual teachers of Bharat.

Foreword
Sanatana dharma, literally meaning 'the eternal code for all humans', has been debated and interpreted by great thinkers at different times in Indian history but all these debates and apparent disagreements have contributed to the strengthening of dharma. Such debates led to reformation and rectification of some social practices, but they were not meant to uproot the sanatana dharma itself. It is admitted by great philosophers like Radhakrishnan that the great movements inspired by people like Buddha, Mahavira and others were all different phases of self-reflection within the same dharma. Their disagreement was on certain metaphysical and sociological aspects of dharma but not on the very framework of dharma. The parallels between Vivekananda and Buddha, as discussed by the writer, Sri Syam Prasad, demonstrate this. This book, though small, has captured several important sociological issues.
