What is death and what does it mean to die? You are frightened of death because it may end everything you have, and one asks, ‘What is it that you have?’ A bundle of memories and nothing else. What does it mean to own nothing? Death means that you hold on to nothing. Living with death means ending all that has been accumulated, ending everything every day. It means never having roots in any place, never having a sense of ownership, possession, attachment. What is it that continues in our life? Is it not memory, a series of associations?
