The Institute of Odia Studies and Research (IOSR) is continuously organizing various academic programs on Language and culture. In order to create vibrant feelings of oneness with own language and culture and to bring a powerful interaction and exchange of ideas with other Indian languages the institute had organized its first National Language Conference during January, 2014. It was soon after the declaration of Odia as a classical language. The participants including a number of academicians, scholars from and aboard unanimously opined that the task of Odia scholars has increased and they have a national duty to fulfill, to preserve and support regional heritage and at the same time there should be well design coordination between state languages and regional culture. Since the advancement of science and technology has tremendous impact on knowledge and education along with all other creative faulty of a hues mass. The language has to avail this opportunities for its daily hues and expansion in the shape of digitalization.
The IOSR keeping all these views in mind had conducted a technical session at ITER in 2014, where it was observed that Odia language is not left behind in compassion to its counterpart. But it has gone through miles and miles ahead. Dr. Debi Prasanna Pattanyak emphasizes on two aspects of our aim, firstly to make Odia the language of knowledge and the language of development, secondly it should medium of instruction from elementary stage. Unfortunately, there is no sign of effort in the state of Odisha. It is felt that unless the Odia speaking people feel it is their language and culture, no one can save it from the danger ahead.
Keeping all these in view IOSR decided to organize the Second National Language Conference with the support of the Department of Culture, Government of Odisha through this could generate a feeling of love and self respect for language among the people of Odisha. It invited researchers and scholars working in various fields of language. The result achieved from this will lead us to promote languages through horizontal integration.
We have received much acclaim from across the nation and a good numbers of research papers. For the purpose of the proceeding, we have selected some of the theme papers and abstracts which may throw light on the conference objectives.
My deepest gratitude goes to several specialist and scholars who have contributed to the language conference. All the papers in this volume have been carefully crafted, based on longitudinal research and personal experience.
