Book Description
About the Book

Venkatapathi Devaraya, the last prominent Vijayanagara Emperor after legendary Krishna Devaraya, rejuvenated Vijayanagara empire from its brink after the demolition of Hampi in Tallikota war and shaped up the future of south of India, post the fall of Vijayanagara in Hampi.

Venkatapathi Raya is a thick concoction of four major accomplishments that made him the Last Emperor of South India. While the first was reviving the Vijayanagara empire after Hampi annihilation, the second included securing of South from the Deccan Shahis and North Moghul invasions.

His empire included entire present-day states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and parts of Kerala ruled from Penukonda, Chandragiri and Raya Vellore, for well over 40 years until his death which almost brought back the past glory of Vijayanagara empire.

Raya, with close affinity towards Tirumala temple and the God Venkateswara, saved and safeguarded the Hindu temples, culture and literature across South India which was under perilous pressure from Islamic invasions.

KONDA He patronised european traders including Portuguese, VELLO Dutch, Danish and English traders in the eastern coast, accorded imperial permissions, space, protection and received taxes; thus, laying the seeds to make India as a country, after a century and half, a colony of Europeans.
