Volume – I
The new syllabi in Social Studies devised by the National Council of Educational Research and Training have necessitated the writing of new books on this subject. In the Junior Middle stage, separate books on History, Geography and Civics are required. The present book 'New History of India' is an attempt to cater for the needs of the beginners in this direction.
The book has been prepared in strict conformity with the prescribed syllabs and contains material quite up-to-date. The language is simple yet impressive. The level of maturity of the students of age group 10-11 years has been kept in steady view. An effort has been made to present the matter in a simple, lucid and connected style.
A special feature of the book is the Glossary given at the end of each chapter. Besides adding to the vocabulary, these glossaries teach the students how to pronounce the words accurately. The pronunciation given is based on two most commonly used dictionaries-The Concise Oxford Dictionary and Chambers' Twentieth Century Dictionary.
