In 1989 Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma gave a live performance in Calcutta to celebrate 150 years of the times of India. This exquisite performance was recorded live exclusively by us and released as part of the Golden Raaga Collection.
Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma brought a number of modifications to the santoor as an instrument. He introduced a chromatic arrangement of notes, increased the range by a full three octaves and created new playing techniques by which he could sustain the notes and maintain their continuity while playing with the strikers.
Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma has won the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy Award of India and several other national and international honors.
