About the Book
Amiya Bhushan Majumdar is a rare writer in Bengali to on a far outside of the Calcutta-centered society of 19th century colonial Bengal. The time and location of the events of Rajnagar, a historical novel, is the former French colonised Farasdanga area of Chandannagar in the years preceding and following the Sepoy Mutiny, 1857. The novel, its heart an interwoven of three different and exquisite love stories, is a sophisticated account of the subterranean power politics of in rule. Alongside, the novel's account of the cerebral aspects of that period's contending cross-currents of religious beliefs is both vivid and perceptive.

About the Author
Amiya Bhushan Majumdar (b.1918) a short story writer and novelist of repute was born in Coochbehar, West Bengal. He began to write short stories more than four decades ago. His novels show a search for the real Man. His characters are wholly of this world with their natural surroundings. His first novel Nilbhuiyan was published in 1955 and since then he has published sixteen books, latest being Galpa Sangraha 1, (1995).
