The market is overflooded with English-Nepali dictionaries but this English-Nepali Dictionary has got some special featuers. This has got correct and easily imitable pronunciation in Nepali. English idioms and phrases are illustrated with suitable sentences in order to enable the students and the general readers at large to grasp the inner meanings. Moreover, the illustrations by sentences will help them to use the idioms and phrases in various ways in their English composition and daily life. Above all, the sentences will actually help them to understand their application and association of ideas. Attempts are made to give the prepositional verbs in abundance wherever possible. In addition to these features, a list of technical terminology in Nepali versions is added to this Dictionary. These are something unique in the English-Nepali Dictionary. And I think with all humility that these features could justify my present endeavour.
This English-Nepali Dictionary has also been enriched with a short appendix of English proverbs with Nepali equivalents, common abbreviations, appropriate collective names, appropriate words for particular sounds of the animals and birds and words that go in pairs. This effort of mine in bringing out this type of Dictionary will be crowned with success if it is found useful and serviceable to the students, teachers and journalists as well as to those who are engaged in learning Nepali language.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Govinda Rrasad Shrestha of Ratna Pustak Bhandar, who highly encouraged me to bring out the second edition of English-Nepali Dictionary.
