During Dasara Festival in October 1997 Bhagawan precided over a Seven-Day Vedic Fire-Sacrifice for spiritual progress, per-formed in Prasanthi Nilayam, and delivered 7 discourses representing seven stages of Con-sciousness - Self-Awareness, Self-confidence, Self-Knowledge, Self-Surrender, Self-Sacri-fice, Self-Satisfaction and Self-Realization.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba presided over a Veda Purusha Sapthah Jnana Yajna Seven Day Vedic Fire-Sacrifice for Spiritual Progress which was performed in Prasanthi Nilayam from 5th to 11th October 1997 during the Dasara Festival period in the presence of thousands of Indian and foreign devotees Bhagawan Baba delivered on that occasion, a set of seven divine discourses dealing with the Body, the Senses of Perception, the Senses of Action, the Mind, the Intellect, the Desire Complex and the Ego; all these that Baba emphasised should be dedicated or sacrificed at the Divine Altar. Baba stressed that Senses are gift of God not for sensual enjoyment but for Selfless Service and Sacrifice. In this sense, our daily life should itself become a Yajna. For this, as Baba exhorts, "You must master the Mind and be a Master Mind". These seven Divine discourses, brought together in this book titled SENSES FOR SELFLESS SERVICE, constitue in effect the seven steps to spiritual enlightenment; they represent the seven stages of consciousness: Self Awareness, Self Confidence, Self Knowledge, Self Surrender, Self Sacrifice, Self Satisfaction and Self Realization. This is the secret of the seven day Yajna.
