About The Book

breathtaking journey through science, philosophy, and beyond awaits readers in Surendra Kumar Sagar's fascinating debut, Six Words.

Beginning with the process of evolution, Sagar painstakingly traverses the world's scientific history with unmatched passion and enthusiasm. Through careful analysis, examples and a unique personal point of view, readers will begin to glimpse the possibility of an existential truth that can ultimately bind the universe together.

By integrating the works of many major scientists and thinkers into a cohesive progression, Sagar uses quantum physics as the basis from which he explores complex philosophical questions.

Astonishing in its scope, Six Words tackles some of the most formidable topics of our day, including the existence of a probabilistic universe, the proper role of an observer, and the meaning of God and religion. Ultimately, however, it is an exploration into how humans can come together to change the course of history.

About the Author

Surendra Kumar Sagar earned a BS from Bombay University with a focus on math, physics and statistics, as well as a BS in civil engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology five years later.

With over fifty years of experience in the design and construction business, Sagar presently works as the technical director of design and engineering for Total Environment Building Systems and is a member of the Institution of Engineers India.

Sagar currently lives with his wife in Bangalore, India. They have two sons and three grandchildren.

Preface

In the words of Schrödinger, 'The personal self equals the omnipresent eternal self."' This equation was arrived at by intuition alone with the available knowledge/information at the time. This did not include knowledge about quantum physics, Einstein's relativity or even Newton's laws.

We are now in the twenty-first century. Our minds are halfway through the journey toward becoming 'super minds.' While it is true we have gained immense knowledge since the days of the Upanishads, we have also realised that for every question that gets answered several new questions pop up. It seems that the quantum of knowledge still to be gained keeps rising all the time.

Now, the above equation is unprovable. We all know that but it answers many of the questions the new science is asking us. The closer we get to the 'super mind' stage, the more we realise its potential of 'making sense' and with it the realisation that the universe itself perhaps makes sense.

This book shows how this equation leads to 'six words.' The six words that show why or how this universe makes sense. These are not provable, too. Again this requires the initial condition (belief) that the universe makes sense.

But what do we mean when we say that the universe makes sense?

Introduction

The search for the ultimate truth can for all practical purposes be considered as the search for the 'Probable Ultimate Truth. Getting at the ultimate truth is not easy. It is expected that it will take a long, long time...perhaps millions of years.

But can our human race survive that long? It looks as if an urgency has been created by The Situation on planet Earth, namely the very high probability of the human race extinguishing itself through self-destruction within the next three or four centuries, which is considered the danger zone here. The second law of thermodynamics is being played out to perfection by human civilisation on planet Earth. Its entropy (disorder and chaos) is forever increasing.

It is a possibility that the knowledge of the Probable Ultimate Truth and its acceptance may provide us with a good chance to reverse the direction of this entropy. This could enable us to survive the danger zone to come out unscathed.

Six Words is an autobiography that begins at the Big Bang, as I entered the universe in the form of a quark. It covers everything of consequence that happened to me from that time till now including my experience in a supernova. It deals with philosophy with an attempt to arrive at a philosophical model that has a good chance to lead us toward that Probable Ultimate Truth.

These Six Words, as words, are simple. Put together these combine into a simple sentence. How do they lead to (or become) the Probable Ultimate Truth? This book is an exploration into that realisation. If these words are announced as a matter of fact, they are unlikely to create an impact, let alone cause euphoria.
