Crunch of resources due to over burden of rising population. Politics has been criminalised. Secessionism has been curbed but terrorism is becoming more and more strident, raucous. Black money, corruption has not been curbed but towards the rising trend. It exists at different levels. Peasants, industrial workers and government employees are in distress. Social values are fast deteriorating. More and more people are becoming the victims of mental illness. Family tensions, bride burning and cruelties, eve-teasing, crime, delinquency, drug abuse, and alcoholism are on increase. It is not only India but all the developing countries are facing innumerable social problems.
It is time to analyze and understand the nature and magnitude of this social problem. The planners and power elites think of suitable remedial measures to streamline the existing sub-system, structure, institutions and laws to contain them. A democracy of status quo as non-planning may turn into a democracy of death and destruction.
Hence, considering the problem in its totality, an effort has been made to cover the diverse aspects of the subject. All the articles are judiciously selected from authoritative sources.
