Book Description
About the Book
Released on India's Independence Day in 1947, this "Survey of Indian History" by an author residing beyond India critiques traditional historical methods as simplistic enumerations of kings and dynasties. It underscores the necessity for a narrative encompassing the evolution of civilization, societal shifts, and religious changes. Distinguishing between British history in India and Indian history during British rule, the author challenges the disproportionate emphasis on the former in textbooks. The book adopts a framework that portrays people's lives against a political backdrop, includes South India's evolution, and emphasizes a holistic view of India's historical progression for the general reader. The contents cover various periods and topics, providing a comprehensive exploration of India's history.
