Introduction
A s the Master's body was surrendered to the flames, and our own minds were burning, it came to my mind to request all present to send their stories of Gurudeva. The stories just came, handwritten or later by e-mails; some in Hindi and some in English. Then a further effort was made; reminders sent. Dr Sheelendra Kumar Vidyarthi was requested to meet as many of Baba's disciples in Kanpur and Allahabad. He did an extensive selfless labor of love and sent the results. Our Guru-sister Maithili and her staff did the initial sorting of all these 'thousand' pages. Dr Vijaya Subramani stayed for many months in Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama and did the initial dividing and classifying of the stories. Dear blessed Abha Dabral took over. She translated Hindi material into English and did the fine-tuning of the entire material with very diligent and conscientious effort. Thus she brought the sundry collection to a comprehensive form. I requested Dr Prakash Dixit, the senior-most resident of our Ashram to guide Abha in the final stages and he went over the work with her many times. Now it was time for me to actually take a look but I was ill and overwhelmed with the work on the Yoga-sutras. How would I go over the whole book and do the final editing? As I struggled, I received an email, out of the blue, from my Guru-brother Dr Prakash Keshaviah offering to do the final editing. Did someone tell him of my difficulty? Did Baba whisper to him? What a relief. I sent it to Dr Prakash Keshaviah to bring the book to its final form. This collective effort is like the "neelotpala-rucha" of Saundarya-lahari, many petals of the blue lotus. The lotus is surrendered to Him from Whom it springs and to Whom it belongs.
