Rohtak and Kurukshetra Univesrity, Kurukshetra. It provides a basic under- standing of Teaching of Science, and is therefore useful for all science teacher educators, science teachers and teacher-trainees.
The content of the book has been categorized into six units which contain related chapters. The outline of these units is as follows :
Unit 1 Concepts and Objectives of Science: This unit deals with the concept of science, its importance in school curriculum and objectives of science teaching.
Unit II Pedagogical Analysis: This unit covers the meaning and steps of pedagogical analysis. Pedagogical analysis of some science topics is also dealt with.
Unit III Planning for Transaction of Curricular and Co-curricular Activities: It deals with unit planning, lesson planning. Teaching aids, demonstration experiments and co-curricular activities.
Unit IV Methods of Science Teaching: It covers the approaches and methods of science teaching in detail with suitable examples.
Unit V Teaching Skills and Improvisation of Apparatus: This unit covers the improvised apparatus and various teaching skills a science teacher should possess.
