Book Description

Preface

Tarikh-e-Firoz Shahi was originally written in Persian by Shams Siraj Afif. Siraj Afif's elders were in service of 'Alauddin Khilji and were directly connected with the Tughlaq dynasty. When Malik Tughlaq was a Governor of Dipalpur, the grand father of Afif's grand father named Malik Shihab, an in-charge of District Abuhar was a subordinate of Malik Tughlaq.

Father of Siraj Afif was not only appointed at a post of writer at night (Shahb Navis) but he was always with the army as he was also appointed as a superintendent of flags in "flags making factory" and of the factory which produced the required material for war horses and of the stable of elephants. Afif has also worked under him. Hence he trusts the words of his father when he says that Firoz Shah got constructed a Chatar over the statue of an idol. His father and uncle were also made responsible to work at and control one thousand boats which were kept busy to ferry the soldiers of Firoz Shahi army.

Though Siraj Afif was not appointed as a Court historian, yet he had a taste of writing history and took benefit of the facts which were compiled in his mind. He lived to see the complete ruin and destruction of Firozabad which was founded by Firoz Shah himself.
