I am rather extremely moved to express my thanks to the Development Committee of the Academy of Sanskrit Research, for taking a good decision to bring out the publication of the Sanskrit masterpiece Varadarajastava by Appaiah Dikșit. This great work of art is humbly dedicated to the divine presence of Lord Vishnu in our scriptures. The author has demonstrated a greater degree of catholicity in describing the greatness of Lord Vishnu. Moreover, the Goddess Lakshmi adds glory to the extraordinary activities of Lord Vishnu. He is unique, omnipresent and supreme. The devotee is completely engrossed in offering his hearty prayers to the Lord. It is hard to imagine a work which has attained deep significance in view of its language, imagination, expression and simplicity.
I recall here the dedication of Vid. S. Kumara, Registrar [Administration], Academy of Sanskrit Research, for accepting the challenge and bring out the publication in the given schedule. This publication attained excellence on account of the scholarly translation of the Sanskrit version to English by Vidwan G.S. S Murthy. He has taken personal pains to translate the book and submit it for publication. It is the humble gesture of such a revered scholar who has set aside all his personal preoccupations in his retired life and help us in fulfilling our cherished task. The book would be a perennial bestseller in the country and attract multitudes of readers from all spheres of life.
I trust that the Academy would be helpful in publishing such scholarly works in future and reach the readers in every nook and corner of the land. I conclude my opinion with a concrete note that this book will certainly evoke curiosity among the readers and enable them to express their views and opinions for improvisation of the work of art at a later date.
